本日私の娘がブラスバンドの演奏会に

出ました。

My daughter appeared in the concert of the brass band today.

京都市東山区の「市民ふれあいまつり」での

ステージでした。

It was a stage in the "citizen contact festival" of Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto-shi.

自分の子供の成長していく姿を見るのは、

嬉しいと同時に安心もします。

When I catch a sight my child grows up to be,

While I am glad, I also feel relieved.

ところで菓子鉢も丁寧にじっくり乾燥させたので、

いい具合の削りごろとなりました。

By the way, it is since the bowl for sweets was also dried thoroughly carefully,

It became good condition shaving-time.

作品も子供同様優しく、厳しく接しないといけません。

The work as well as a child must touch severely ,gently.

本日今話題の村上春樹著の「１Q84」を買いました。

I bought "1Q84" of the Haruki Murakami work of subject now today.

普段私は読書といえばビジネス関連の

実用書が中心です。

 I read a book of the business-related how-to book usually.

このような長編小説は若い時からめったに読みません。

 I rarely read such a long novel from young time.

しかしながらあまりにも話題になっているのと、

村上春樹氏の世界的評価が高いということが

気になり購入しました。

 However, it has become the center of attention too much,

I purchased the book for the reason Mr. Haruki Murakami's global evaluation is high.

映画監督の黒澤明氏はじめ村上氏のような、

世界が認める芸術や文学にはある種人類共通の

普遍的な部分があると思います。

I think that a universal portion common to human beings is among the art and literature like Mr. Akira Kurosawa and Mr. Murakami which the world accepts.

そのあたりを感じ取ることが、自分の仕事にも

役立つと信じています。

 I believe that it is useful also for my work to feel them.

今日はダイエット茶碗を作りました。

I made the diet rice bowl today.  

私のところではよく作るアイテムです。

 In my studio, it is an often made item.

左から

男性用飯(茶)碗、女性用飯(茶)碗、ダイエット飯(茶)碗です。

 From the left

They are a rice bowl for males, a rice bowl for women, and a diet rice bowl.

普通の男性用とダイエット茶碗ではこれだけ大きさが

違います。

 A diet rice bowl differs from the ordinary object for males in a size this much.

ちなみにこのダイエット飯(茶)碗は

本来孫茶碗と呼びます。

 Incidentally originally, this diet rice bowl is called a grandchild rice bowl.

私が聞いたところによると、この孫茶碗は

もともと花街の女性が使うお茶椀だと聞きました。

 According to what I heard, this grandchild rice bowl was a rice bowl which a dancing geisha and a geisha use from the firs.

実は今日から私もこの茶碗を使ってダイエットに

励みます！！

In fact, I also strive for a diet using this diet rice bowl from today! !

今日の夕食は天然の鴨鍋でした。

This supper was a hot-pot dish with natural duck meat and vagetables.

兵庫県小野市の山の中にある

「山水荘」というお店でした。

It was in the mountain of Kakogawa-shi, Hyogo,

It was a restaurant named "Sansuisoh"

 ここは明治36年から44年まで日銀総裁だった

松尾男爵の別荘でした。

昭和30年に今の店となり、現在一日3組までしか

予約を取らないそうです。

It was the Matsuo baron's cottage.

Showa 30 came the present restaurant.
This restaurant makes reservation only to three groups on the 1st now.

 本日は左の姫路の陶芸家の塩中氏の父上の

御馳走でした。

約3時間右の茶人小林一夫氏の話に聞き入りました。

 It was treat of the father of the ceramist Mr.Shionaka of Himeji today.

 We listened attentively to the talk of a right master of the tea ceremony, Mr. Kazuo Kobayashi, for about 3 hours.

本日の小林氏の話で印象に残っているのは、

千利休の名前が田中千阿見で、田中姓を樂長次郎に譲り、

自分は千という姓になったという話でした。

I was impressive in the talk of today's Mr. Kobayashi,

Sen no Rikyu's name was Tanaka Senami,

And the Tanaka family name was yielded to Raku Chojiro,

He became the family name Sen.

ちなみによくある阿見という語源は、南無阿見陀物の

南無と陀物をとったものです。

 Incidentally The origin of a word called Ami
was takes Dabutsu Nahm of Nahm ami dabutsu.

今日私の工房で団体の見学がありました。

There was a visit of an organization in my studio today.

20名の方々が順に3グループ来られました。

 20 persons were divided into three groups in order, and they visited.

とても真剣に専門的な質問をされました。

 They asked the special question to us very earnestly.

実はこの人達は兵庫県加古川市で

陶芸のサークルに入っておられるのです。

 In fact, these people are in the circle of ceramic art in Kakogawa-shi, Hyogo.

全員で300名の会員がいて、67歳から98歳の

人が陶芸をされています。

 There are 300 members by all the members, and the person from 67 years old to 98 years old is doing ceramic art.

アマチュアのレベルが上がってきているので、

プロもうかうかすることが出来ません。

 Since amateur's level has been going up, a pro cannot slack off, either.

今日は私の次女の14歳の誕生日です。

Today is my second daughter's 14th birthday.

京都北山のMALEBRANCHEという

ケーキ屋さんでケーキを買いました。

 I bought a cake at the patisserie called MALEBRANCHE of Kyoto Kitayama.

このお店は茶道具の「清昌堂やました」の

現在のご主人の妹さんが嫁がれたところです。

 The younger sister of the present master of "SeishodouYamashita" of tea-things was married into this shop.

抹茶のマカロンのケーキです。

京都らしい一品です。

 It is a cake of a green tea macaron.

This is one goods in character with Kyoto.

色が綺麗だったので思わず買いました。

 Since the color was beautiful, I bought it impulsively.

 京都のケーキ屋さんも「京都らしさ」を追求するため

日々試行錯誤されています。

In order that the cake shop of Kyoto may pursue "Kyoto-likeness", they apply a trial-and-error method every day.

抹茶のマカロンの味は深い甘さがしました。

 The taste of the green tea macaron was deep sweetness.

今年9月と11月に御寺（みてら）泉涌寺において、

初めて夜間特別拝観と庭園ライトアップが行われます。

This year in September and November,

In temple Sennyu-ji,specially visit and garden lighting are performed at night for the first time .

泉涌寺といえば皇室の菩提寺ということで、

戦前までは神秘のベールに包まれていました。

しかしながら近年は色々な催しも行われ、

一般の観光客も増えてきたように思います。

 If it is called Sennyu-ji, it will be the Imperial Household's family temple,

It was wrapped in the veil of the mystery till before World War II.

However, various events are also performed in recent years,

I think that ordinary tourists have also increased in number.

今年はJR東日本のテレビコマーシャルの

「そうだ　京都、行こう。」キャンペーンで初秋に

この泉涌寺が紹介されます。

This year -- the TV commercial of JR East Japan -- "-- that is right --   Kyoto -- I will go -- " This Sennyu-ji will be introduced for campaign in early autumn.

そんなこともあり、より多くの方に泉涌寺を知って頂くため、

初のライトアップを開催されることになったそうです。

 In order that Sennyu-ji may know to more directions for such a reason,

It is said that the first lighting of night will be held.

我々地元陶芸家は陶磁器製の行灯の制作、

抹茶席への抹茶碗の提供のような形で参加します。

 The local ceramists will make the lamp shade made from pottery,

And we are going to offer some tea bowls of the tea ceremony.

11月21日からの「もみじまつり」においても東福寺さんがご協力してくださり、

今年の秋は東福寺～京焼窯元～泉涌寺の地域は盛り上がること必至です！！

Tofuku-ji will cooperate also in "The maple festival" from November 21.

The autumn of this year -- Tofuku-ji ～Kyoto ceramic ware kiln ～Sennyu-ji will certainly rise　!

枝魯枝魯の5月のデザートですが、

すぐ食べてしまい、写真を撮るのを忘れてしまいました。

Although it is a dessert in May of Gilo Gilo,

I ate a dessert immediately and have forgotten to take the photograph.

これは枝國さんがパリで購入した器です。

モダンでお洒落なデザインです。

This is the tableware which Mr. Edakuni purchased in Paris.

It is a modern and stylish design.

さて来る6月14日日曜日に裏千家インターナショナル・

アソシエーション(UIA)近畿エリアの催しがあります。

There is an event of Urasenke International association (UIA) Kinki area on Sunday, June 14.

そこでお呈茶があり、私の作品も使用されます。

今日はその時に使う菓子鉢を作りました。

There is the tea ceremony then and my work is also used.

I made the bowl for sweets which is due to be used in the tea ceremony today.

まず轆轤（ろくろ）で形を作ります。

A form is first made from a potter's wheel.

縁を6等分して、指でつまみます。

The edge is equally divided into six and it pinches with a finger.

平らな板で6角形にしていきます。

It is made into a hexagon using an even board.

もう一つは、中心あたりをへこませます。

As for another work, around a center is dented.

先を指でつまみ、瓢型にしました。

The point was pinched with the finger and it was made into the gourd form.

しかしながら、当然主役はお菓子です。

お菓子がより映え、使いやすい鉢にしなければなりません。

However, naturally the leading role is sweets.

Sweets look to advantage more and it must be made the bowl which is easy to use.

例の如く、まずは作ってから意見を聞きます。

Like an example, I hear the opinion of customers, after making first.

枝魯枝魯5月メニューの6品目です。

今月のご飯ものです。

山フキと湯葉の辛煮にホタテの貝柱を和えた

だし茶漬です。

鱧のだしをかけます。

This is rice dishes of this month.

The scallop of the scallop was dressed to Japanese butterbur and soy milk skin simmered with salty sauce.

Rice is filled with soup.

The soup is a sharp-toothed eel.  

さて本日は私の地元の陶芸家の

重松康夫さんの個展に行きました。

場所は京都高島屋です。

I went to the private exhibition of my local ceramist, Mr. Yasuo Shigematsu, today.

The place is Kyoto Takashimaya.

ご覧のようにとてもモダンなデザインをする陶芸家です。

今回は新しい試みとしてマットの釉薬が使われてました。

He is a ceramist who does a very modern design like looking.

Glaze of the mat was used as a new trial this time.

人の力作を見るのはいい刺激になります。

It becomes a good stimulus of me to see others' work.

重松さんのビアカップが良かったので

思わず買いかけたのですが、

家内に「あんた作れへんの？」と言われると思ったので、

ビアカップは自分で作ることにします。

Although I was buying it involuntarily since Mr. Shigematsu's beer cup was good,

Since I thought that my wife will say "Can't you make?" ,

I will make a beer cup by myself.

なおこの展示会は26日火曜日まで、

京都高島屋6階美術工芸サロンで開催中です。

 In addition, this exhibition is till Tuesday, the 26th,

It is holding in the artistic handicraft salon on the sixth floor of Kyoto Takashimaya.

枝魯枝魯5月のメニュー5皿目です。

It is the 5th dish of menu in May of Guilo Guilo.

今月のメイン料理です。

鰆の胡麻塗し焼です。春キャベツとパプリカのソースを

つけて食べます。

付け合わせは、アスパラの桜エビ衣揚げと

蟹と小松菜の和えものです。

It is a main dish this month.

It is the Spanish mackerel which roasted and applied sesame.

The garnish is deep-fried food of the asparagus of the clothes of the cherry tree shrimp .

And another is the thing which mixed a kind of Chinese cabbage with a crab.

 さて今週末もある実験をします。

I plan to conduct a certain experiment this weekend also.

これらは同じ陶土で12種類違う釉薬を塗り、

3パターンの焼成をするために作ったテストピースです。

These apply glaze which is different with the same clay as for 12 kinds,

In order to calcinate three patterns, they are the made test pieces.

今から25年前京都市工業試験場で

テストピースばかり作っていたころを思い出します。

It is in a Kyoto glaze examination school 25 years ago.

I remember the time of having made only many test pieces.

あの当時はまともにロクロも出来なくて、

今ライブ中継をする姿は自分でも想像していませんでした。

I could not do a potter's wheel directly those days, either,

The figure which I make live relay now was not imagined.

今から25年後はある程度想像していますが、

たぶん自分の想像を遥かに超えた出来事が待ち受けていると思います。

Although I am imagining a certain amount of figure of mine in 25 years,

I think that the occurrence which was probably beyond imagination of it far is awaiting.

枝魯枝魯5月のメニュー4皿目の続きです。

It is a continuation of the 4th dish of menu in May of Guilo Guilo.

左奥はハタハタの唐揚げとトマトのすり流しです。

右奥は烏賊とセロリの和えものです。

The left backs is the deep-fried sandfish and the puree of tomato.

The right back is the dish with which celery was mixed with the squid.

 さて今回新たに挑戦した携帯用茶器です。

It is the portable tea set in which I newly challenged this time.

形状は同じで5種類作りました。

All form was the same,I made five kinds.

このように入れ子になります。

Thus, it becomes a nest of boxes.

このようなセットになります。

It becomes such a set.

お茶の葉を入れて実験しました。

I experimented using the leaf of tea.

 後は実際に使う人の意見を聞いていきます。

I am going to hear the opinion of those who actually use after this.

今回のような仕事はサイズもきっちり決まっていて、

機能性を最重要視しなければなりません。

何時からか私はこの様な仕事が好きになり、

自分を試す意味でもファイトが湧いてきます。

As for size, work like this time was just decided, and I have to maximum-attach importance to functionality.

I became favorite about such work,

My fight springs also the meaning which tries myself.

昔の体操競技でいえば、規定演技といえますね。

でも私の得意なのはE難度連発のフリー演技なのです！！

Do say by old gymnastics to call it regulation performance?

But I am good at free performance of E difficulty running fire! !

枝魯枝魯5月のメニュー4品目です。

It is 4th item of a menu in May of Guiro Guiro.

右手前はズッキーニ、鯵、トンブリに葱が入った

もろみ味噌で和えたものです。

その隣は小鮎とスナックエンドウの春巻きです。

中央の蓼（たで）醤油につけて食べます。

The front right is a zucchini, ascads, and thonburis,

They are mixed with the unrefined miso paste containing a Welsh onion.

The back is an egg roll of a small sweetfish and a snack pea.

An egg roll is attached to the soy sauce of a knotweed, and is eaten.

 さて昨日は昨年6月にパリのギロギロに行った際

ギロギロでアルバイトをしていた、板谷千加子さんが

私の工房に訪問してくれました。 

When I went to Gilo Gilo in Paris in June last year,

Ms. Chikako Itatani who was working at a part-time job in Guilo Guilo.

She visited to my studio yesterday.

これからパリでコーディネートの仕事をされます。

またパリでお会いしたいものです。

She will act work of a coordination in Paris after this.

Moreover, I would like to meet her in Paris.

そこでギロギロのブログを見たら、茶器の話題が出ていたので、

明日は今回新たに作った携帯用茶器の話題をブログに掲載します。

Then, it is since the subject of the tea set was published when I looked at the blog of Guilo Guilo,

Tomorrow I publish to a blog the subject of the portable tea set newly made this time.

枝魯枝魯5月のメニューの3品目です。

It is the 3rd of the menu of Guilo Guilo in May.

鯛尽くしです。

生姜御飯のおにぎりに牛蒡と鯛の子を炊いたのが

のっています。

手前は鯛のカツです。

横に鯛の白子があります。

This is all using the sea bream.

A back dish is a rice ball of ginger boiled rice.
There are child of a sea breams and burdocks on it.

The front is a cutlet of a sea bream.

There is milt of a sea bream in the side.  

さて昨日の夜は京都でイタリアの工芸展の

反省会？を行いました。

The anti-meeting of the traditional-handicrafts exhibition of Italy was held in Kyoto last night.

私の隣からイタリアでご一緒した木村さん、

安東さん、そして飛び入りで小泉さんです。

The persons of my next door is Mr. Kimura and Mr. Ando who went in Italy together,

And he is Mr. Koizumi of participation suddenly.

二次会は小泉さんの行きつけの店に行きました。

The secondary meeting went to Mr. Koizumi's favorite bar.

カラオケシステムもあります。

There is also a karaoke system.

続いて三次会はショットバーです。

Then, the third meeting is a shot bar.

女子ボクシング世界チャンピオンの

多田悦子さんも参加してくれました。

私のアリキックを試そうと思い、

エキジビションマッチを申し込みましたが、

簡単に断られました。

A woman boxing world champion, Ms. Etsuko Tada, participated.  

I think that I will try my Muhammad Ali kick,

Although I applied for the exhibition match to her,  

It was simply refused to her.

小泉さんいろんな意味で御馳走様でした。

Mr. Koizumi -- In various ways thank you for the delicious drink.

本日中国マフィアの小泉さんとお茶会に行きました。

I attended the tea ceremony party with Mr. Koizumi today.
He is the would-be China Mafia.

2月に上海に一緒に行った宇野さんの美術館です。

This is Mr. Uno's art museum which we performed to Shanghai together in February.

 本日ここでお茶会がありました。

There was a tea ceremony party here today.

濃茶席、薄茶席とも凄い名品を揃えてありました。

Famous tools were prepared for the thick tea seat and the thin tea seat.

薄茶席の釜と水指です。

水指はノンコウ作です。

These are the kettle and fresh water container of the thin tea seat.

The cold water container was made by Donyu.

千利休作の茶杓です。

This is Sen no Rikyu's tea scoop.

平安時代の阿弥陀如来像の写真を真剣に撮っている

小泉さんです。

Mr. Koizumi was taking the photograph of the Amitabha image of the Heian era earnestly.

今日は滋賀県八日市まで行きましたが、

多くの歴代樂家の茶碗に触れることができ、

とても充実した一日でした。

Although we went to Yokaichi-shi, Shiga today,

I can touch the teacup of many the past Raku,

It was one day satisfied very much.

枝魯枝魯5月のメニュー2品目です。

It is the 2nd menu of Gilo Gilo in May .

鱸（すずき）の椀物です。

万願寺唐辛子を揚げてから、だし汁と卵で

ムースにしたものが入っています。

This is the soup of the sea bass. After frying Manganji green pepper, what was used as the mousse with broth and eggs is contained in this soup.

さて今日はお茶のお稽古に行きました。

風炉になって初のお稽古でした。

Now, I went to practice of the tea ceremony today.

It was the first practice today since it became furo(brazier).

いつも炉から風炉、風炉から炉になるたびに、

時の移りゆくスピードに驚かされます。

I am always surprised by the speed at the time, when set to furo(brazier)  from ro(sunken hearth) and to ro from furo.

さあ気分一新夏に向かって頑張りましょう！

順調に進行してます。）

昨日久々に枝魯枝魯に行きました。

I went to 枝魯枝魯 after a long absence yesterday.

フェミオさんの今月のヘアーです。

ドラゴンボールです。

It is the hair of Mr. Femio this month.

It is DragonBall.

5月の枝魯枝魯（ギロギロ）メニューの

一品目です。

この乾山写しの器に盛られているのは、

鱧のおとしです。

鱧の下には焼きナス、上には鱧の皮の唐揚げが

トッピングしてあります。

It is first item of the Guilo Guilo menu in May.

The boiled rare pike eel serve in the vessel of this Kenzan copy.

A grilled eggplant is under pike eels, and some flys of the skin of pike eels are upwards.  

鱧のおとしといえば梅肉ですが、この一品には

新玉葱のソースがかかっています。

まさしく固定観念を打ち破った、枝魯枝魯らしい料理です。

Plums are always used to the boiled rare pike eel .

However, the sauce of a new onion is applied to this dish.

It is the dish appropriate for Guilo Guilo which smashed the fixed idea surely.

さてこの器のデザインの源を考案したのは、

尾形乾山（１６６３～１７４２）です。

Now, Kenzan Ogata (1663-1742) devised the source of the design of this tableware.

師匠である野々村仁清と共に京焼の２大巨星であり、

その意匠は現代でも十二分に通用し、この二人によって

京焼の今があると言っても過言ではありません。

Kenzan and Ninsei Nonomura (Kenzan's teacher) are the two major giant stars of Kyoto ceramic ware,

The design is accepted more than enough also the present age,

It is not an overstatement although there is now of Kyoto ceramic ware by two persons' existence.  

乾山とは窯を築いた場所が京都の乾（西北）の方向

だったので、乾山というブランド名になりました。

Since the place which built kiln was the direction of Inui (Ken)(northwest) in Kyoto, Kenzan became a brand name of Kenzan.

ちなみに私南山は、交趾の焼物がベトナム（安南）から

やって来たので、安南から一字とり南山と名付けました。

By the way, since the pottery of Kochi was imported from Vietnam (Annan) , I took one character from Annan and named Nanzan.

「南山鼓を打てば北山舞う」

（中国の南山で鼓を打つと、遠く離れた北山で舞を踊ることで、親密な師弟関係を表す禅語です。）

南山は禅語でもよく使用されます。

 (if people strike a hard drum on the Nanzan of China, people will dance on distantly Hokuzan.It is the language of the ZEN showing intimate teacher-student relationship. )

Nanzan is often used in the language of zen.

本日は京都三大祭の葵祭に行ってきました。

I went to the Aoi Festival which is one of the 3 big festivals in Kyoto today.

毎年５月１５日に行われる葵祭は下鴨神社と上賀茂神社

の例祭で、祇園祭・時代祭とともに京都三大祭に数えら

れています。

On　May 15　Kamigamo and Shimogamo Shrines hold

their annual festival.

This festival is one of the three big festivals (Aoi,Gion,

Jidai) in Kyoto. 

これは牛車（ぎっしゃ）というものですが、

今の牛はパワーがなく、人の力が必要となります。

Although this is a cow carriage (Gissha),

The present cow does not have power and people's power is needed.

今年の斎王代は裏千家の家元の長女

千万紀子さんです。

The Saio-dai is Miss.Sen Makiko of the eldest daughter of the head master of Urasenke this year.

今回私は初めて葵祭を観ましたが、

各装束のカラフルさに驚きました。

Although I looked at the Aoi Festival for the first time this time,

I was surprised at the colorfulness of each dress.

過去のものはモノトーンの印象があります。

しかし現実社会は何時の時代も総天然色ですよね。

The past thing has an impression of a monotone.

But in actual society, any times are the total natural color.

いよいよダイヤモンドヘッドの岩石で作った釉薬で

抹茶碗を焼きます。

I make a tea bowl from the glaze made from the rock of Diamond Head at last.

このように根気よく岩石を砕いていきます。

もう岩石が残りわずかとなり、茶碗で

３個ぐらいしか焼けません。

Thus, rock is broken with sufficient perseverance.

Rock is only a few and can already be made only about three pieces with tea bowls.

次回ハワイに行った時に、希望を持って

ダイヤモンドヘッドに登るため、

７月の裏千家ハワイセミナーまでに

なんとか製品として可能性のあるものを

作らないといけません。

When I will go to Hawaii next time, in order to have hope and to climb Diamond Head,

I have to make that which is possible as a product somehow by the Urasenke Hawaii seminar in July.  

とにかく前に進むしかありません！！

Anyway, I advance before!!

本日は京都の磁器の土についてお話します。

I report the clay of the porcelain of Kyoto today.

ここが京都の磁器土を調整し、販売している工場です。

残念ですが現在の出荷量はピーク時の約三分の一になりました。

This is the factory which adjusts and sells the porcelain clay of Kyoto.

Regrettably the present shipment dropped to about 1/3 of the peak.

 もともと京都では磁器の原材料となる陶石が

ほとんど採取できませんでした。

日本において有田で最初に磁器が焼かれたのが１６１６年ですが、

京都では１７００年代後半に焼かれています。

Clay stone used as the raw material of porcelain was hardly able to extract from the first in Kyoto.

Although it is 1616 years that porcelain was made first in Arita in Japan,

It is made in Kyoto late in the 1700s. 

京都は磁器の土を他の産地からそれも品質の良くないものを

仕入れていました。

よって真白ではないややグレーがかった色調の白磁が

京都の磁器の特色ともいえます。

Kyoto had bought in what has not good quality for the clay of porcelain from other places of production.

Therefore, the white porcelain of a little grayish color tone which is not pure white is the feature of the porcelain of Kyoto.

京都の陶芸の職人・作家はこのことにとてもコンプレックスを

感じていました。

しかし以前私が観たテレビで、茶懐石で有名な辻留の

先代辻嘉一氏が、「京料理には京都の磁器の色が一番合う」

とおっしゃていただいたことにとても感銘を受けた記憶があります。

The craftsman and the artist of the ceramic art of Kyoto felt the complex for this thing very much.

However, it is the television which I watched before,

I have the memory which received impression very much in a predecessor, Mr. Kaichi Tsuji, of Tsujitome  famous for a tea ceremony meal having said, "The color of the porcelain of Kyoto suits the food of Kyoto most."

やはり京都の焼物は京都の文化と共に育ってきたと思います！！

I think that the pottery of Kyoto has grown up with the culture of Kyoto! !

現在京セラさんのオパールと並行して、

ルビー、ブルーサファイアの陶磁器への焼き付けも

実験中です。

With an experiment of the opal of KYOCERA, I am experimenting also in baking to the pottery of a ruby and blue sapphire now.

しかしながら、宝石は宝石の美しさがあり、

陶磁器は陶磁器ならではの美があります。

However, jewelry has the beauty of jewelry,

Pottery has the original beauty of pottery.

それを融合させるのは、それぞれが反発して

至難の業といえるでしょう。

Each will repel uniting them and it is the most difficult work.

私自身少しやる気が失せていましたが、

ふとオールド　ノリタケの本を引っ張り出しました。

Although, as for me, the motivation had faded away a little,

I took out one book of Old NORITAKE casually.

この本に載っている作品を見たとき、

宝石を違和感なく陶磁器に組み込むヒントがあると

思いました。

もちろん京都の「上品で粋なセンス」を表現しないと

いけませんが。

いつものことですが、先ず作ってみて人の評価を受けます。

When I look at the work which appears in this book,

I thought that there was a hint which attaches jewelry to pottery comfortable.

Of course, I have to express "the refined and stylish sense" of Kyoto.

Although it is usual, I make first and receive evaluation of people.

昨日あるイベントを見に京都競馬場へ行きました。

I went to　Kyoto horse racetrack  yesterday in order to look at a certain event.

京都府内の青年会２２団体が集結しての

イベントでした。

This was the event for which young men's association 22 organizations in the Kyoto Prefecture gathered.

生まれて初めて、競馬を見ました。

一番印象に残ったのは、馬の艶のある美しさでした。

I had not seen the race of the horse until now.

It was the glossy beauty of the horse that I was the most impressive.

先日お世話になった大江山の宮木さんも

鬼の着ぐるみを着て頑張っていました。

（大江山は鬼伝説で有名です。）

Mr. Miyaki of Oe-yama who took care of the other day wore the demon's stuffed-animal suit, and he was doing his best.

(Oe-yama is famous for demon traditions.) 

その後、枝魯枝魯の枝國さんの師匠のお店「安づ喜」

へ行き、ぐじ（アマダイ）のお造り等を食しました。

枝國さんはパリから帰国した際は忙しい中、師匠の

店には顔を出すそうです。

人生義理を忘れてはいけませんね！

Then, I went to the Japanese restaurant "Azuki" of the teacher of Mr. Edakuni of Guilo Guilo, and ate the fresh slices of raw fish of ぐじ (tilefish) etc.

Although he is busy when Mr. Edakuni goes back from Paris, he attends a teacher's Japanese restaurant.

We must never forget obligation in life!

今日は京都高島屋で行われている柳原白蓮展

に行きました。

I went to the Yanagiwara Byakuren exhibition in Kyoto Takashimaya today.

 今回は私が裏千家ハワイセミナーで知り合った、

齋藤富美さんの華道の先生のお母様がこの

柳原白蓮さんということで、齋藤さんから

チケットをいただきました。

The mother of the teacher of the flower arrangement of Ms. Saito Fumi who became acquainted at the Urasenke Hawaii seminar is this Ms. Yanagihara Byakuren, and I received the ticket from Mr. Saito this time. 

 まったく予備知識がなかったのですが、

その波乱万丈の生涯と、柳原さんの歌集の原稿、

手紙、書、色紙、掛け軸、等には圧倒されました。

Although I did not have preliminary knowledge,

I was overwhelmed by her stormy whole life, her anthology manuscript, a letter, writing, colored paper, and the hanging scroll.

また戦争で息子さんを亡くされたことにより、

平和運動にも積極的に参加されたことも感心させられました。

Moreover, when she lost the son in war, she participated also in the peace movement positively and I was impressed also to things.

世の中には私の知らない立派な人がまだまだ沢山いらっしゃると思います。

もっともっと視野を広げ、興味を持って人生を歩んでいきたいものです。

I think that many splendid people whom I do not know are in a world still more.

I would like to extend a view much more and to progress life with interest.

本日携帯用茶器を削りました。

I shaved the portable green tea set today.

ぶっつけ本番でしたが、ほぼ見本どおりに出来ました。

Although it was without any rehearsal, it was able to do as the sample mostly.

注ぎ口の切れ目がポイントです。

The line for pouring is the point.

入れ子も上手くいきました。

しかし、この段階で良くても、1,250度で焼成すると

土が変形します。

特に蓋は引力の影響で、全体に沈んでいきます。

よってあらかじめ変形を計算して丸みをつけておきます。

焼成は来週の火曜日の予定です。

The condition with which a tea set overlaps also went well.

However, even if this process may be sufficient, if it calcinates at 1,250 degrees, the shape will change.

Especially lids sink in the whole under the influence of of gravitation.

Therefore, modification is calculated beforehand and roundness is attached.

Calcination is a schedule on Tuesday of next week.  

本日は京都府庁へ行ってきました。

I went to Kyoto Prefectural Office today.

奥の新館は現代的な建物です。

でも今日は左の旧本館に行ってきました。

Some back new buildings are modern buildings.

But I went to the left old main building today.

この建物は明治時代に建築されたもので、

京都府重要文化財第一号です。

 This building was built by Meiji Era,

It is the first of the Kyoto important cultural property.

昔は、この旧本館で京都府庁としての

ほとんどの仕事をしていました。

現在もこの建物の中でいろいろな仕事がなされています。

A long time ago, almost all work as Kyoto Prefectural Office was done in this old main building.

                                                       Various work is made in this building still now.

旧本館東側にある府庁NPOパートナーシップセンターです。

京都府内のNPOやボランティア団体と行政とが

交流、連携する場所です。

 It is a prefectural office NPO partnership center in the old main building east side.

NPO, the volunteer organization, and administration in the Kyoto Prefecture are a place which alternates and cooperates.

１８日からここで私の地元の陶芸家と

京都南山城村の茶ECOプロジェクトさんとの

コラボレーションの展示会が行われます。

The show of the collaboration of my local ceramist and the tea ECO project of Kyoto Minamiyamashiro-mura will be held from the 18th here.

今日は聞香炉を削りました。

I made the incense burner for burning an aromatic tree today.

この段階では湯呑の底と変わりません。

These are the same as the bottom of teacups in this process.

このように削って三本脚にします。

These delete and are made into 3 legs.

焼成後はこのような底になります。

After calcination becomes such a bottom.

完成はこんな感じです。

ここに灰と炭を入れ、香木を焚きます。

Completion becomes such.

Ashes and charcoal are put in here and an aromatic tree is burned.

香道は一定の作法のもとに香木をたき、立ち上る香気の異同によって
古典的な詩歌や故事、情景を鑑賞する文学性、精神性の高い芸道です。
香道では香りを「嗅ぐ」と言わず「聞く」と表現します。

「香道」は、世界に類を見ないわが国特有の文化として

The incense ceremony burns an aromatic tree on the basis of fixed manners.
It is the high art of literature nature and spiritualism which appreciates classic poetry and historical fact, and a sight by the difference in a scent.

By The incense ceremony , a scent is not referred to as "smell" but a scent is expressed, saying "listen."

"The incense ceremony " is inherited in the present age as culture peculiar to Japan which does not look at a kind in the world. (Shoyeido homepage)   

以前私がパリの伝統工芸展に出展した時、松栄堂の畑社長は

ほとんど初対面の私に高価な香木を貸してくださいました。

それ以来松栄堂さんとはグループでの企画展を数回してきました。

また近いうちに何かしたいものです！！

When I participated in the traditional-handicrafts exhibition of Paris before, President Hata of Shoyeido lent the expensive aromatic tree to me at the almost first meeting.

Shoyeido and we have done the plan exhibition in a group several times since then.

We would lke to do something in the near future again. !

さて本日携帯用煎茶器のろくろをしました。

Now, I did the potter's wheel to make a portable green tea set today.

とりあえず6セット作りました。

I made six sets for the time being.

乾燥、焼成するとかなり縮みます。

These are considerably shrunk, in order to dry and calcinate.

ろくろで作った約1時間後、指でお湯の注ぎ口を

作ります。

About 1 hour after making from a potter's wheel, I make the way out of hot water with my finger.

角度が悪いとお湯が垂れるので、神経を使います。

Since hot water will hang down if an angle is bad, a nerve is used.

18日の搬入に間に合うようにしなければなりません。

I have to complete them by the 18th.

今日は子供神輿の当日です。

Today is that day of a child portable shrine.

午前10時いよいよ出発です。

We leave at last at 10:00 a.m.

私は樽神輿に参加しました。

I participated in the cask portable shrine.

途中で老人施設に寄りました。

右の人が子供神輿会会長の北川さんです。

We visited the home for the aged on the way.

A right person is the child portable shrine meeting chairman, Mr. Kitagawa.

御老人の方々も喜んでおられました。

今回でこの子供神輿は22回目です。

しかしながら参加する子供の数はピーク時の

半数以下となりました。

日本の少子高齢化を表すイベントとなりましたが、

それはそれとして、平和で楽しい一日でした。

Old folks were glad.

This child portable shrine is the 22nd time in this time.

However, the number of the children who participate became less than the half of the golden age.

Although it became an event showing low birthrate and longevity of Japan,

It was one day pleasant and peace regardless of it.

本日京都たち吉本店へ行きました。

I went to Kyoto tachikichi today.

人気漫画「へうげもの」から誕生した「へうげ十作」の

作品を展示する「へうげもの展」が開催されています。

「へうげる」はふざけている、おどけているの意味です。

この漫画は織田信長、豊臣秀吉に仕えた武将であり、

千利休の弟子でもある茶人で、織部焼の創始を指導

した古田織部が主人公です。(茶を飲んでいるイラストは

千利休です。)

The "Hyouge Mono exhibition" which exhibits the work of "Hyouge of ten works" born from popular comics "Hyouge Mono" is held.

"Hyouge Mono" is a clowning person meaning.

The hero of these comics is the general who served Nobunaga Oda and Hideyoshi Toyotomi,

It is a master of the tea ceremony who is also Sen no Rikyu's pupil, and he is Oribe Furuta who guided the creation of the Oribe pottery. (The illustration which is drinking tea is Sen no Rikyu.)

会場では好みの茶碗で抹茶を頂けるコーナーが

あります。

偶然にもお点前をしているのは知人の椿堂の

御主人でした。

At the hall, there is a corner which can drink powdered green tea with a favorite teacup.

Also by chance, the master of an acquaintance's tsubakido was doing tea ceremony.

出されたお菓子が何と千利休の顔を模ったものでした。

さすがに食べるのには気が引けました。

The presented sweets modeled Sen no Rikyu's face.

I felt diffident about eating truly.

私が注文した一碗です。

冷水で点てられてます。

It is one bowl which I ordered.

It is made from cold water.

新聞でも取り上げられ、多くの方が来場されてました。

どのような形でも、お茶の文化が多くの人に親しま

れれることは有意義だと思います。

そして私もこの漫画のファンになりました。

This exhibition was taken up also in the newspaper and many people had come.

Anyway, I think it significant that the culture of tea is loved by many people.

And I also became a fan of these comics.

本日地元町内会の子供神輿の準備設営がありました。

 There was preparation of the child portable shrine of a local neighborhood today.

5日が神輿の本番です。

朝から神輿の組み立てをしました。

 May 5 is the acting before the audience of a child portable shrine.

People in the neighborhood assembled the portable shrine from the morning.

これらの神輿は右の帽子をかぶったおじさんの

全て手作りです。

この他ユニークなゲームも作っておられます。

All of these portable shrines are handmade. The uncle wearing a hat made these.
He also made some unique games.

神輿完成後、藤森神社の宮司さんによって

御祈祷がありました。

There was a prayer by the Shinto priest of the Fujinomori shrine after completion of a portable shrine.

5日はこの地域を中心とした子供達が神輿をかついで

町内を練り歩きます。

私の子供は大きくなってもう参加しなくなりましたが、

未来を背負う子供たちが生き生きとしている姿は

見ていて気持ちのいいものです。

These children in the neighborhood shoulder a portable shrine, and May 5 parades a neighborhood.

Although my children grew up and it stopped already participating,

The fine figure of the children who bear the future,

It is pleasant to look.

本日フクロウ付きの湯呑を作りました。

I made the teacup to which an owl is attached today.

ろくろで作った後(約1時間後)指で湯呑の縁を

へこませます。

After I make a teacup using a potter's wheel (about 1 hour after), my finger dents the edge of the teacup.

あらかじめ湯呑と同じ陶土で作っておいたフクロウを

くっつけます。

The owl beforehand made from the same clay as a teacup is attached to a teacup.

全体の形を整えます。

I prepare the whole form.

これが完成品です。

This is finished goods.

後ろはこんな感じです。

The back of a teacup is such a pattern.

他のフクロウをモチーフにした平安陶花園の商品です。

そもそもフクロウは不苦労とか福朗など縁起物として

日本では色々なデザインに使われます。

These owls are used for various designs as a good-luck article -- un-suffering troubles and fortune come -- in Japan.

先日のフィレンツェでの展示会でも

日本の招き猫、七福神等が詳しく説明を

付け加えることによって、売れていました。

縁起を担ぐのは万国共通ですね！！

Even the show in Florence the other day,

Japanese beckoning cats, Seven Lucky Gods and others, etc. sold well. That is because the explanatory note was attached.

It is common to the world that we are superstitious! !

今日精華大学の学生さんの見学がありました。

 The students of the Seika university came to my studio for study by observation today.

日本画を専攻している大学院生と

マンガを専攻している中国と韓国の学生さんです。

引率の佐藤先生は25年来の付き合いです。

With the graduate student who is majoring in Japanese pictures ,

They are the students of China and South Korea which are majoring in comics.

Mr. Sato of leading is association over 25 years.

ここでもパソコンの動画が活躍します。

The video movie of my personal computer plays an active part also here.

ついついサービスして、ろくろに座りました。

I sat on the potter's wheel, giving my service with a sufficient feeling.

 本日京都の焼物の歴史について話をしましたが、

中国と朝鮮を抜きにして話をすることはできません。

過去にはそれぞれ暗い歴史が渦巻いていますが、

このように日本の大学で中国と韓国の人が仲良く

勉強している姿を見ると、今は本当にいい時代だなと思います。

Although I talked about the history of the pottery of Kyoto today,

China and Korea cannot be without and it cannot talk.

Although respectively dark history is whirling in the past,

Thus I think that it is a really good time, now I catch a sight which the persons of China and South Korea are studying with sufficient relations at the Japanese university.
